Having a mother who was a home birth midwife, my path to midwifery really began during my childhood. But first, my life would see two beautiful sons born with the help of midwives and my mother. After raising my sons to adulthood, I knew it was time.

Part of my midwifery training requirements was to train under a midwifery mentor. I chose my mother, Carolyn Reisman, CPM. Starting in August of 2016, I immersed myself in formal midwifery studies and birth work for three years.

In June of 2019, I passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam and earned my credentials as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). In August of 2019, the state of Tennessee authorized me to practice midwifery as a CPM-TN. The time-honored tradition of passing midwifery skills from mother to daughter was complete.

I feel honored to work with mothers and families as they navigate through their decisions during pregnancy and birth. I have come to know so many wonderful families and am looking forward to

serving parents in Chattanooga and the greater Chattanooga area for years to come.

I moved to Tennessee with my husband Mat from the Southwest in order to pursue midwifery training with my mother. We soon fell in love with the beautiful greenery and mountainous surroundings. One of our favorite things to do is seek out the many waterfalls and hiking trails in our area. On the weekends when not attending births, I am usually out with my husband rummage saling and antique shopping. We seldom buy things but enjoy the hunt for treasures.  We love spending time with the now grown up kids who are a regular part in our lives, even though they have flown the nest.

I have been working in Public Health for over 20 years with a focus on women's health. After the birth of my first son born at a birth center in Bali, Indonesia, that specialty evolved into birth services. I am a registered yoga teacher, certified lactation counselor as well as a certified birth doula. I use all of my past education and experience to bring my work as a midwife assistant to Birth Wellness. It is an honor to support women and their families in their birth journey.
